W12/ ICT, Development, and Poverty Reduction/ Lee Hayoung

1.Summary The development of technology is the biggest factor and foundation for the explosive development of this society. Among them, the most important element of ICT development is the popularization of mobile phone use. Compared to the past, cell phones can be used anywhere today, which is why information can be shared even on the other side of the globe. This has helped to eliminate information inequality and allow people in the lower classes to see a lot of information. This sharing of information and the reach of information have helped many people protect their rights. 2. What was interesting Anyone would feel that the quality of human life has improved due to the development of technology. However, a new form of cyber-bullying has emerged, which could help and undermine the rights of others at the same time. I once again realized that mankind is always developing technology for life, but always accompanied by problems. 3. Discussion Point How should informa...

W12 / Economic Development and Poverty Reduction in Korea/ Lee Hayoung

Economic Development and Poverty Reduction in Korea Korea became a very poor country after the colonial rule and the Korean War. People starved because they had nothing to eat and did not even have a foundation to develop the industry. However, the implementation of various policies has led to economic development at a very rapid pace. However, it came to my mind that elements of the political system were not supported as we achieved rapid economic development. Is our capitalism well established? Can we say that the development of capitalism alone is the development of society?

Q. Are human rights universal? / Lee hayoung

Q. Are human rights universal? / Lee hayoung A. Human rights are universal, and must be universal. What I say is universal is that wherever the person is, the rights to be protected and respected by any country are all the same. But the difference is the practical effectiveness of the right. Depending on the country, there are some places where rights are strictly protected and others are not. We need to strive for the protection of everyone's rights.

Q. Can the government suspend human rights of some individuals for the 'good of the wider society'? / Lee hayoung

Q. Can the government suspend human rights of some individuals for the 'good of the wider society'? / Lee hayoung A. We agree with the suspension of human rights for individuals who adversely affect society, but we should be careful that the government does not indiscriminately violate individuals' human rights beyond their needs. In order to do so, I think the person who needs to be punished needs to be punished properly for the crime. Laws and institutions should be organized in detail so as not to infringe on individual human rights as much as possible.

Q. Who died in the Holocaust? / Lee hayoung

Q. Who died in the Holocaust? / Lee hayoung A. It is an incident in which numerous Jews were massacreduced. Jews, gypsies, Soviet prisoners, homosexuals and political prisoners were also slaughtered, but 90 percent of the victims were Jews. This is considered the most humiliating event of mankind in the 20th century in that it showed extreme human madness and endless cruelty and violence.

W10 / Human Rights and Asian Values / Lee hayoung

1. Summary Asian countries insist on human rights that are appropriate for their countries and carry out politics accordingly. However, this sometimes provides room for the dictator of the Asian government to rationalize his irrational behavior through his claim of cultural relativism. 2. What was interesting When it comes to human rights, I think it is necessary to have universality that encompasses humanity beyond the world. This idea begins with the premise that all human beings are equal. If all human beings are equal, we have basically the right to be protected as well. But who reached an agreement on these human rights? This was also done by a human with limited thinking, not by the consensus of the people of all cultures, but by the scholars of Western powers. 3. Discussion Point  Do we really have to uphold the universality of these prescribed rights? In the 21st century, many things surrounding humanity have changed, so shouldn't a new agreement be necessary...

W10 / Human rights / Lee hayoung

1. Summary  Human rights is the biggest foundation on which society can be formed. We can maintain this society because we have the basic, minimum human rights not to invade each other. Not only does human rights maintain a nation, but it also has a significant impact on the legislation of laws such as international law. We are struggling to protect our rights to a higher and higher level gradually from minimum rights protection. 2. What was interesting  I thought it was too late for me to come up with a concept of human rights. Humanity has formed a society for a long time, but respect for people seems to have started late. Seeing that such discourse on human rights emerged during and after the war that most trampled on human rights, it also reminded me again that human beings must suffer evil to draw good. 3. Discussion Point  In recent cases such as Hong Kong protests and the Black People's Rights Movement, people from all over the world have gathere...

W9/ Why Our World Is Aging / Lee hayoung

Modern society is rapidly aging. This means fewer healthy young people are making it possible for economic activities. The birth rate is also falling significantly compared to the previous generation. The aging caused by the development of technology is changing the appearance of society. Countries that used to be multi-generational are gradually increasing the proportion of personal life, which redefines the role and expectations of families.  From an economic point of view, the aging population, which is shrinking and only increases the number of people to support, can be considered negative. However, it was a new point of view that if you think that aging is not a negative time, but a time to gain experience and great wisdom in life, you might get help in developing society.

W9/ Preparing for an Aging World / Lee hayoung

1. Summary Our society has developed medical technology due to the development of various technologies, thereby extending the life expectancy. But the birth rate is gradually decreasing, which means our society is becoming an aging society. An aging society causes various problems. The elderly are forced to limit their economic activities, and a lower birth rate means that the number of young people who can support them is gradually decreasing. It is true that collecting data alone takes a long time, but active government-level research and development are needed to wisely cope with the crisis caused by aging. 2. What was interesting In fact, there was nothing interesting about this reading because it has long been known as a problem in Korean society. In fact, however, we could see that in order for us to proceed without any major problems in an aging society, we needed a government-level response quickly. 3. Discussion Point It is a matter of human dignity that cannot ...

W9 / Demography / Lee hayoung

1. Summary Before proposing complex theories to illustrate social phenomena, sociologists should first use demographic indicators for possible explanations. Demographic analysis is a powerful tool for explaining various social phenomena. Demographic statistics play an important role as the basis for research because they have the same roots as sociology in social changes involving science and industrial revolution. 2. What was interesting Today, Korean society is facing a variety of social changes due to changes in the birth rate, followed by problems caused by low birth rates. On the contrary, however, there are more problems even if the population becomes overpopulated. From food to infectious diseases, there are many factors that pose a threat to the survival of mankind. I didn't know the damage caused by overpopulation would be so enormous, and that was why it was interesting. 3. Discussion Point In general, countries with side effects from overpopulation are d...

Why do we value the Internet? / Lee hayoung

Q. Why do we value the Internet?  A. The Internet already accounts for almost all of our lives. Even home appliances are now pouring out products connected to the Internet. In this era, the inability to use the Internet is tantamount to not being able to read, and the resulting information inequality makes a person unable to work properly in society. To that extent, the Internet is important because it has a huge impact on our lives.

W8 / Digital divide / Lee hayoung

1. Summary Information is communicated differently depending on the various factors. In these days when information is essential, some people do not know about technology and do not deliver basic information because they do not have access to the Internet. This discriminatory gap makes them socially distinct. This information gap will lead to social inequality, so we must narrow this gap through various support. 2. What was interesting The digital divide affects children's ability to learn and grow in low-income school districts. Without access to the Internet, students cannot develop the skills they need to understand today's dynamic economy. In the past, the existence of Internet use was not a very important factor, but the great influence was interesting as society developed seemed to change the human development process. 3. Discussion Point Still, countless people may be suffering from inequality due to the information gap. Also, if it is really a big problem...

W8 /Technology, the Internet, and Virtual Worlds/ Lee hayoung

1. Summary Human technology has advanced a great deal. A typical example of technological development is mobile phones. It was possible to communicate with people for long distances instantly, which was previously impossible, and now it is an indispensable technology in modern life. Along with mobile phones, social networks have also developed, with many advantages and certainly many disadvantages. Whether good or bad, they leave traces of my actions behind and criticize each other, or they are used to blur the order of society. 2. What was interesting Most people think that playing a lot of video games can lead to poor health and reduced attention. However, it was interesting to note that there was no evidence that video game players were in poor health, and that smoking rates were low and attention was increased. Of course it has negative effects, but it's only part of it, but the degree is serious. 3. Discussion Point Human technology has a great influence on peop...

W7/ Video :Moon Base Concepts / Lee hayoung

1. Summary In 1969, NASA's fifth Apollo program manned spacecraft mission began. This was a measure and symbolic significance of the development of human technology. It wasn't very smooth. Although the mission had to go as planned in a very specific way, an error occurred and the computer overflowed, and Apollo 11 almost exploded when the astronauts were inside. But trained astronauts stopped this and mankind's first lunar landing mission succeeded. 2. What was interesting The development of human society may be explained by the development of technology. The U.S. was determined to successfully complete its exploration of the moon, as technology could soon be considered national power. Aldrin said, "The feat of sending three humans to the moon could be accomplished not only by government or business, but by the state or more. I think it symbolizes curiosity about the unknown of humans." This seemed to be an endless curiosity about human technology and perha...

What is meant by that? / Lee hayoung

Q. Society is not determined by technology, nor is technology determined by society. Both emerge as two sides of the sociotechnical coin. What is meant by that? A. So to begin with, I think that society and technology are the relationships that influence each other, the concepts that one cannot include or dominate. There is technology in society, and technology exists because there is society. I think it's an inseparable relationship, so I think it can be expressed in both sides of a coin.

W7/ Do you think that countries position are determined by the level of military technology they possessed?/ Lee hayoung

Q. Do you think that countries position are determined by the level of military technology they possessed? A. It is true that military technology is greatly needed for the safety of the nation. However, I think that modern society has a stronger advantage with the development of telecommunications, technology and free markets than physical and physical wars. Previously, each country's position was established through more direct wars, but now I think it depends on the development of trade or technology between countries rather than on war unless it is a specific country.

W7/ Will future technology be more sustainable? / Lee hayoung

Q. Will future technology be more sustainable? | A. As we are still working on sustainable development, I think it will be possible if these technologies are settled and stabilized. As human technology is increasing day by day, I think that not only sustainable development but also more diverse technologies that can sustain humanity can emerge.

W7/ What does a sustainable future actually look like? / Lee hayoung

1. Summary  So far, sustainable development claimed by people has not been concrete. But we must realize it in detail rather than insist on vaguely sustainable development. So I propose four things to develop the story of "global sustainability." Sustainability should be classified and specified by sector. It should also clearly identify and draw who will benefit. This way we can discuss and practice the future specifically. 2. What was interesting Sustainability may be a good way to address the global poverty gap, social exclusion and environmental degradation, but now this is so vague that it is rather being used as an excuse. It's not going on because everyone who calls for sustainability defines it differently, but I think it's a good attempt to correct it. 3. Discussion Point Discussions on sustainability will have to be carried out together by several countries. This is because the world villages will have to help each other and coexist together. ...

W6 / Climate change education / Lee Hayoung

Various countries are struggling for change through climate change education. Climate Change Education (CCE) is an education aimed at addressing and developing effective responses to climate change. Help learners understand the causes and consequences of climate change, prepare them to adapt to the effects of climate change, and take appropriate steps to help them adopt a more sustainable lifestyle. They also learn how human activities affect climate change, what they can do to protect themselves from negative consequences, and how to reduce their own climate footprints. In particular, CCE improves the resilience of already vulnerable communities that are most likely to be affected negatively by climate change. It was interesting not just to encourage, but to minimize climate change and to provide systematic education for those who are vulnerable to already underway climate change. In particular, I learned that there is such a movement. Changing values is the most important thing, but ...

What are some of the major environmental problems facing out society? / Lee Hayoung

Image
High nitrogen dioxide emissions are a long-standing environmental problem. Nitrogen dioxide is toxic and highly oxidized, and is made up of one of the pollutants in the atmosphere. Inhalation is a gas in which more than a majority of animals die at concentrations above 100 ppm due to respiratory tract or lung infringement. It also changes the characteristics of clouds, blocks sunlight and absorbs solar radiation. All of these factors affect the Earth's climate and temperature. This can lead to regional warming, and vice versa, cooling the climate.  Due to the various economic activities of humans, these gases are generated and we are experiencing various climate change. However, it is not fortunate, but most human activities have been suspended due to the corona virus, leading to another natural change with about 30% of nitrogen dioxide drastically reduced.
