Demography

Summary)

We should study demographics because demographics are data that can explain social phenomena. China and Rome had a population census 2000 years ago, and most countries started a census in the late 18th century. Population statistics act as important indicators of birth (birth rate) and death (death rate). Childbirths mean a woman's potential reproductive ability. Long life is a predictable factor in mortality. In the past, the mortality rate was high, but today the mortality rate was low, and in the past the birth rate was high, but today the birth rate was low. But the world's population is now growing by about 80 million. Characteristics of such overpopulation include child poverty, eradication of illiteracy, lack of arable land, small surplus food and increased crime of stealing resources for survival. Some argue that the overpopulation problem will be solved naturally.

What's interesting, what's new?)

I was impressed by the word "farm flight." In the era of industrialization for economic reasons, the phenomenon of people moving to cities to get jobs is called rural flight. The effects of industrialization have led to economic difficulties as they are characterized by the uncertainty of farming among those who make a living by farming in rural areas and because the price of crops was not considered high in the era of industrialization. In the process, people flocked to the city to find jobs such as factory workers, but the population flocked to the city, causing environmental problems such as urban heat islands.

Not only this, but I was impressed by the term "the effect these days" of the apartment. "These days" is a term that explains how people living in apartments feel less afraid than those living in detached houses. In fact, I once asked my parents if they didn't want to live in a detached house later. But my parents said that they don't want to live in a detached house because it is scarier than an apartment. At that time, I thought that even though many people lived in apartments, they were often indifferent to their neighbors and that it was less difficult for criminals to enter because people were more accessible. Therefore, it was difficult to sympathize with my parents. But after learning about "the recent effects," I learned the basis of my parents' arguments.

The part I want to discuss with others)

There are people who believe that the problems arising from the annual increase in the world's population can be solved naturally. This argument may be valid because the number of children actually born is decreasing. Do you think that urbanization can solve the problems caused by the large number of people living in cities? Recently, people who used to live in big cities have lived in the center of the city. More and more people feel frustrated and move to surrounding areas.
