Were MDGs successful?/ Changyu Jung

I think MDGs were successful at some points. The goals were achieved in some countries. And the goals really helped decreasing poverty and hunger. And even saving the lives of people. I don’t think we can say just like “it failed”. Of course there were some bad points. When people set these goals, they didn’t consider the actual situations in the countries. They didn’t think about the differences between countries and realities. However, I think there has been a real achievement and it has helped improve the situation in many countries. I also believe that these goals have helped set goals such as SDGs, which have had a significant impact to this day. These are the reasons why I think MDGs were successful at some points.
