How can we measure social development through history?

 
     I think that through history, we can measure the degree of social development by comparing the system that is criticized in modern times with how it has changed at present. I also think that through the development of technology, we will be able to see through historical records that people in the past have saved labor today.
 
     In other words, I think we can measure the degree of social development by comparing the social system and production technology contained in the literature recorded in history with today's. And what matters here will be the accuracy of past literature
