“What is free culture and
how it can help with social development?”
Free culture, in a word, means to ease copyright laws so that various people can use copyrighted content as open content. So how can a free culture help social development? In recent years, the enforcement of copyright-related laws has become stricter than in the past, making it difficult for many people to use the data recklessly. Only economically paid people can use the content, or it may be difficult to use it at all. Also, it is difficult for people who cannot use the technology to access the content even if they have economic capabilities. Thus, if free culture spreads and the copyright system is relaxed, and there is more open content available to many people, various attempts to utilize the content can develop society. But things like weakening copyright laws and making open content should not be considered easy. Because it can demoralize copyright holders who create new content.
