Why are you taking this class?
During last semesters I found myself being more interested in sociology not only in terms of our daily life but also how it influences global economics. I also started studying the social development of different regions of the world and I want to continue to broaden my knowledge in that field.
Another reason why I decided to take the course is that it combines different learning methods. I have already experienced a class with a similar approach, that's why I expect the lectures to be engaging and resulting in a better understanding of the topics. Besides, I would love to hear/read the opinions of other students on various topics. I think this exchange of thoughts shows the diversity of the perspectives and exposes us to new ideas that we wouldn't be able to come up with ourselves, often because of different life experiences. I would like to learn a lot from my other colleagues and I'm also willing to share my point of view.
Personally, I also find the part regarding Wikipedia interesting because it used to be often a source of knowledge for me. Anyone can edit it, yet it gives you an idea that you can look more into and find reliable sources to confirm or to discard some information. It also gathers the knowledge of the individuals and the open contribution allows covering many topics. It's also a free source of information and I believe access to the information to make our own judgments is each person's right, that's why I would like to know more about how it works.
