Week 13 | Reading | Lee Jaeseong

1. Summary
This paper critically considered the role in social development of race. No country today is homogeneous in the way of life, such as race, religion, etc. Ethnic groups are defined as part of a society in which members have common origins. Unlike social evolution, the concept of "social development" focuses on the problem of meeting human needs and improving the quality of life. It can also be expressed in various economic directives. There is a micro and macroscopic perspective in these social developments, and the macro-interpretation focuses on economic and social changes in developing countries and the authority of the community.

2. Interesting Point
Learning social development theory, I am learning that social development really requires a variety of factors. This time, I read a paper on how much local communities and peoples contribute to social development. Ethnic societies are small societies, but these societies will unite to form a large society. I thought that the development of a national society could lead to the development of a large society.

3. Discussion
Is it important to see social development microscopic? Is it important to look at the macro?

Comments

  1. I think a balanced view is important. If you look at social development too microscopically, you can miss a huge structure, and if you look too macro, you can miss individuals and small groups. I don't think we should be too extreme a point of view.
