Why toys are marketed for boys, and what for girls?
What do we learn through playing with gendered toys?

I have had a part-time job promoting toys on Christmas. As I felt while promoting toys, the Korean toy market tends to promote toys after distinguishing between boys and girls. So toys for boys are mostly placed in blue backgrounds, while toys for girls are usually displayed in pink backgrounds. There are many toys for girls that usually make or decorate dolls, and toys for boys that control cars, airplanes, and weapons such as knives and guns.

And parents or grandparents who are worried about their children's toy gifts want to be recommended for Christmas according to their gender. When a boy wants to buy a toy that a girl likes even if he comes to buy a toy with his child himself, his parents are confused and recommend another toy that targeted the boys. This is especially true when boys want to buy toys that are released for girls rather than when girls want to buy toys for boys. Analysis of toy sales at Christmas shows that toys for boys are more often sold than toys for girls. I guessed that for the reason I mentioned earlier, there might be more men's toys sold in the toy market.

And although toys such as housekeeping and clay making were for girls in the past, they are now being designed and sold as neutral toys. Therefore, I think that as the distinction between femininity and masculinity becomes more blurred, so will the boundaries of toys by gender.
