THE ROLE OF ETHNIC GROUPS IN SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT / Kim Ami
1. Summary
This paper
critically considers the role of ethnic groups in the social development of
Third World countries. Social development is a concept that can only be said
when economic development and collective mobilization and action are combined.
Writer say that economic development is essential, but that it should have
certain social goals because it can lead to some undesirable consequences. In
other words, it should be considered from the perspective of Gross National
Honourability and social development rather than from the perspective of growth
rate of GNP. Writer pursue the development of people's ability to work continuously
for people's welfare and social welfare and the change of social system.
2. Interesting point
The author's
words that social welfare should be pursued rather than growth rate are
interesting. However, I think this phrase corresponds to a developed country. Because, I think the rise of GNP should come first in order
to improve social welfare in developing countries.
3. Discuission
