Human Rights and Asian Values

These days human rights are thought to be one of the biggest principles for each government, hard to imagine regarding the fact its an "invention" of post-World War II conclusions. It has started even earlier but hose were the first global legal actions taken to prevent Human RIghts violation. World War II was also a period of time were globally Human Rights were violated resulting in crimes on a huge scale and with deaths of millions. That's why securing them should be a major responsibility of all of us. Even though it evolved in the so-called Western World, the concept has spread across the world resulting in global policies. The Western-viewed approach was undermined. They were trying to introduced the law while those Western states were mostly responsible in the past of colonial legacy and rights abuses around the world including Asian countries, where now they were trying to influence. There's also a dissonance between the values put as first in Asian and Western countries. Authors of the essay wrote different chapters from different disciplines, addressing many issues, approaching the problem from different angles. Instead of attacking, they are presenting reasonable arguments.

I think what this article highlights it's the fact that the situation around the world differs and we should address the problems accordingly. Judging each nation's actions, especially those in history will not solve our issues. Instead, real arguments are needed to recognize the problems and imply changes.

What do you think is the major problem regarding Human Rights in your country that should be addressed?
