Entrepreneurship development and poverty alleviation: An empirical review / Kim Ami
1. Summary
Poverty is a major obstacle facing the people of the world. Poverty means a lack of income or assets, such as confidence and ability. In 2006, Alan E. Singer said the best way to relieve poverty in any part of the world is to encourage more in business activities and start new ventures through entrepreneurship development. Moreover, entrepreneurship can provide a basis for economic change through the creation and application of new knowledge. By enabling entrepreneurs to "create capacity for productivity and growth," entrepreneurship strengthens the power of income in economic and modern societies. The development of entrepreneurship also contributes to poverty reduction by creating new markets, new industries, new technologies and new institutional forms through the initiation of new start-ups or expansion of existing start-ups.
2. Interesting point
What's interesting is that
if you look at the articles on how to fight poverty from the past, the stories
of donations have been the main focus, but
the article seems to have suggested practical ways to get out of
poverty.
3. Discuission
The economy is
in bad shape now. Do you think these problems can be solved through
entrepreneurship?
