W9.Ageing/Lim Ji Won
Ageing refers to the increasing proportion of people over 65 years of age in the total population. The world population is aging faster than ever. The reasons for Ageing include increased life expectancy, the development of public health and medical facilities, and a sharp decline in fertility rates. In particular, in the 1960s, the average fertility rate was more than five, but now it is less than 2.5, and in advanced countries less than two, 1.6.
Aging has begun to develop a number of policy problems, typical of elderly people's problems with their retirement lives.
As aging intensifies, the state must ensure the stability of the elderly's personal property and income, take care of their health, and take care of the quality of life when we are older. In particular, the majority of the youth and middle-aged people in the modern history society are under pressure to take care of both their children and their parents, so it is widely believed that the state should establish a policy to solve this problem.
The present youth are in a situation where they have to take care of both their parents and children in an aged society, but the reality is that jobs that guarantee the income of those young people are gradually disappearing due to AI and technological advances. So, in this situation, what kind of policy should the country create?
