W9. Introduction to Sociology/Stratification / Seoyoung Um

1. Summary
Stratification  affects our daily lives. Stratification  refers to the hierarchical arrangement of people in society. In particular, this article focuses on economic tiering. Sociology studies the stratification of various types of inequality, including economic inequality, racial and ethnic inequality, and gender inequality. Inequality means to approach rare and valuable resources in society. Resources may be economical or political.

2. New/Interesting
I was surprised that technological development has the potential to substantially increase inequality. In my opinion, the idea that technological progress could solve inequality was vague. However, this can only be resolved if society develops, not just technology.

3. Discussion
In a world where inequality is growing, what methods will help close the wealth gap?
