W8.2 Digital Divide / Juhee Cha

1. Summary
Digital divide refer to unequal distributions between different groups, regardless of number, in terms of access, use, or influence of information communication technology (ICT). Some worry that those who do not have access to the Internet and other information and communication technologies will be disadvantaged because they cannot or will not be able to shop online, search for information online or learn the skills required for technology jobs. As poor and disadvantaged children and teenagers spend more time using digital devices and less time interacting directly with people compared to children and teenagers from wealthy families, the division of the station is also taking place.

2. Interesting Point
When the word "Digital divide" was given, the first thought that comes to mind was "the development of the media." With the development of media, the generation of people who are less able to use digital technology has come up with features that they do not know much about information and do not have access to. But the word "Digital divide" is a broader concept than I thought I had. Information gaps can be global, regional and personal, and they can be called technological gaps. It was also learned that the information gap could lead to imbalances among individuals, households, businesses or geographic areas.

3. Discussion
Support for bridging the information gap is said to cause another reverse-discriminatory divide. An example is that you have to give up interacting with others by spending more time on training and training using digital devices. What should we do to solve these problems?
