W8 Reading: Digital divide/ joonhee Lee

The digital divide refers to an imbalance between certain groups in terms of use and access to information and communication technology(ICT). The group that creates the gap here may be the gap between countries or within the country. This is expressed by various criteria held by individuals or groups, including nationality, gender, age, economy, and health.

Unlike in the past, there has been a lot of digital media distribution around the world. However, the digital divide is a problem that is still observed and observed in a variety of the beholder. In other words, this suggests a complex problem that cannot simply be dismissed as a matter of economic power and accessibility.

In spite of the spread of the media, it was the ability of many to notice the cause of the gap that was not resolved (ex. information accessibility, information utilization, information acceptability) that simply grasping the media is not everything, but creating an environment in which they can learn and utilize it.

The digital divide was one of the familiar terms. Because it is one of the concepts that is widely used to represent the gap between developed and developing countries. As the article said, however, it was hoped that the gap would be resolved to some extent as access barriers to digital media, such as computers and mobile phones, are much lower than in the past. However, I felt that it was quite a complicated problem when I saw that it existed in our society in various aspects due to various factors and personalities.

Digital gaps exist throughout our lives more than we thought, but for the benefit of technology, this was harder to feel than I thought. I could see many examples in the article, but I wanted to know more vivid examples. Have other people ever felt the digital divide? Let me know if you have.
