W7. Introduction to Sociology/Deviance/ Seoyoung Um
1. Summary
Deviance is a violation of cultural norms. Deviance is divided into two types. First, crimes can be cited. It violates officially enacted laws and is called "formal deviation." This example includes robbery, theft, rape, murder, and assault. Second, there is deviant behavior. Violations of social norms and norms not classified as law in "Informal deviation". It is also called an informal departure, and one example of this is picking up the nose and burping loudly.
2. New/Interesting
I knew that "deviance" differs from culture to culture, but there is a new fact. Christ Desert Abbey said it would be banned from speaking from 7:30 p.m. to 4 a.m. I really wanted to know why these rules were made.
3. Discussion
Tattoos also belong to a deviance. It used to be close to the device area, but now it is considered to be one way to improve awareness and express individuality. Do you think tattoos belong to the "deviance"?
