W7. What is meant by that?/ Kim Seonghui
Q. Society is not determined by technology, nor is technology determined by society. Both emerge as two sides of the sociotechnical coin. What is meant by that?
A. I think it means that society and technology are closely related to each other. Society and technology do not decide each other, but they have a big impact on each other. For example, in a society that values technological development, the technology of that society would be highly developed. (Society affects technology) On the other hand, if technology such as artificial intelligence appears, the society should think about laws and policies related to artificial intelligence (technology affects society), which means that it is closely related to each other and cannot be separated like two sides of a coin.
