W.10.1 Human rights / Juhee Cha
1.Summary
Human
rights are moral principles or norms describing specific standards of human
behavior and are regularly protected by natural and legal rights in city and
international law. They are generally inalienable, and are fundamental rights
inherent in all human beings. Human rights policies have exerted great
influence within international law and international and regional institutions.
Solve international problems of economic, social, cultural or humanitarian
nature, and encourage respect for human rights and basic freedoms, regardless
of race, gender, language or religion.
2.Interesting
It was interesting to see the
opinion of cultural relativists that human rights are not universal and are in
conflict with some cultures. In particular, the fact that women's rights were
violated has become a great sympathy. Prior to World War I, women did not have
the right to vote, which could be said to be representative of human rights.
The women's rights movement contributed to women's right to vote, and the
long-held ethnic and religious minorities were able to regain their human
rights. It is surprising that human rights were not guaranteed to everyone from
the beginning. It seems that we should pay attention to whether there are any
marginalized groups in our society at present.
3.Disussion
With the recent increase in the
number of confirmed cases of the Itaewon Club Corona, interest in the
Homophobia group has increased rather than the incident itself. Some people
have mocked the group, Homophobia, rather than paying attention to the Korona
confirmation. Can we say that the human rights of all people are guaranteed in
the current Korean society?
I don't think the human rights of everyone are guaranteed in Korea. As in your example, the human rights of homosexuals have been violated by homophobia as the number of confirmed patients in the Itaewon club Corona has increased. Not only that, these people almost got outing. In addition, seeing that many foreign English teachers have been confirmed they were in the Itaewon club, some restaurants and cafes have posted signs saying, "No foreigners entering."
