The digital divide
The digital divide is a situation that different social groups have uneven access to Information and Communication Technologies. Mostly due to costs, hardships, and differences in adaptation and utilization depending on the region. For people living in advanced societies, access to technology and information is an expected "good". Wide access to information seems to be a necessity in the current world. Unfortunately, there's a dissonance in the access to those goods in different groups. The digital divide is present in social groups characterized by different income or living in a less urbanized area. That applies to both local and global contexts. A the beginning the digital divide was referred to more of having and not having access to the internet but with time when access to the mobile phone is more common now, this divide is not actual anymore. The article describes the means of connectivity, the reasons, and correlations between different indicators. Interesting aspects was a was the gender digital divide related to the lack of literacy and/or lack of confidence in the ICT abilities. Some of the reasons behind the gap in a digital divide but he most significant seem to be variables related to the income level, educational attainment, and employment. Those variables were shown to have the biggest impact in which there's no correlation between gender and access to ICT.
Interesting is how many variables were researched and how the topic was examined.
Can you notice the digital divide in your society?

I was able to see the digital divide in Korean society due to the corona virus. People lined up at pharmacies and started buying masks as the Corona virus increased the importance of masks to people. For those who wait for an hour or two, a developer has developed an app that tells them the status of the drugstore's mask inventory. It is said that young people could use it to go to pharmacies with supplies and buy masks in a relatively short period of time, but the elderly continued to go to numerous pharmacies because they did not know the existence of apps. This is a situation caused by the digital divide.
