Video: Full Environmental Planning City: Acology / Kim Ami

1.     Summary

Archology, a combination of the words architecture and environment has two meanings: self-sufficient and environmentally sustainable communities, and combines high-rise buildings with self-sufficient residences. The author says that the existing forms of buildings known as acology are inefficient, and expects to replace the existing city with hexagonal giant buildings integrated into a more natural environment. Although the development of acology allows trade with the outside world, communication with the outside is minimized because most consumption is covered by its own products. It also has less traffic and a much smaller population per area. There are these advantages, but the problems of manpower, expertise, and population growth may hinder the realization of the issue.

2.     Interesting point

What was interesting was that the author tried to verify whether acolytes could be realized in the future through calculations. Watching the video, I came to think that through the author's complicated calculations, it might actually be a building where the acolytes can be realized. Another interesting thing was that the it is self-sufficient building. Watching the video continuously made me wonder if such a world could come.

3.     Discuission

In the video clip, it says Acollage is self-sufficient and minimizes exchanges with the outside world. Then, can we really say that society has developed in a better direction, with the emergence of a situation in which relations with the outside world are cut off in a society?
