Digital divide / Kim Ami
1. Summary
Digital gaps mean uneven
distribution among different groups that distinguish access, use, or impact on
information and communications technology (ICT). These gaps arise for a variety
of reasons, including income, education, race, gender, geographical location,
age, technology and perception. For example, Caucasians are more likely to own
computers than whites, and people living in urban centers use more computer
services than rural areas. The digital divide arising from economic imbalances,
and education, is widening to a "knowledge gap." It is also one of
the international issues, not just one country. In a bid to resolve the global
digital divide for economic equality, social mobility, democracy and economic
growth, the United Nations has also held world leaders' talks on information
society.
2. Interesting point
The impressive part was the
need to close the digital divide for democracy. They say the country cannot
control the Internet only when the Internet develops. I thought the reason to
close the digital divide was just to get the information that everyone wanted,
but it was impressive that I thought I looked at it from a new perspective.
3. Discuission
Do you take
the digital divide seriously?
