Demography / Kim Ami
1. Summary
Demographics is a study of
human demographics, which studies the size, structure and distribution of the
population and how the population changes over time due to birth, death,
migration and aging. Demographic is important because they can explain various
social phenomena at a macro level. Demographics that rely on large data sets
derived from census and statistics can explain infertility, mortality,
demographic changes, population growth and overpopulation, migration and
urbanization. In particular, demographers focus on indicators of birth rate and
mortality, and strive to explore demographic change factors. However,
demographics are often difficult to achieve accurate numerical value in
relation to minority groups, and demographic understanding of social structures
and patterns continues to change with respect to the availability of more
accurate data and measurement techniques.
2. Interesting point
I've just thought
demographics are a study of population figures, so it's interesting that demographics
are necessary to explain social phenomena. Especially when I was vivid in World
War I, I only thought about political and diplomatic conflicts, a fresh view
that population growth may be one of the factors that affected the outbreak of
World War I.
3. Discuission
It also
deals with migrants, with recent studies showing that opposition to immigration
is being made because it changes the identity of the society in which
immigrants migrate. If so, Korea is a single nation, will immigrants change the
country's single culture?
I am not negative about immigrants immigrating to society and changing its identity. A country with various identities can be said to be a multicultural society. I think any country where individual thoughts and cultures are recognized will be welcomed. If so, the perception of our country will also.
