Wikipedia: reliable sources / Lee Hayoung (LATE POSTING – ADDED)
1. Summary
Wikipedia articles should be based on reliable, published sources and should contain a majority and all significant minority opinions that appear in such sources. Regardless of whether the source is negative, positive, neutral, or questionable, the controversial material for the unsourced living (or, in some cases, the most recently deceased) must be removed without immediate delay. Articles shall be certified on the basis of the work itself, the author, and other reliable sources. Also, the information added to the Wikipedia is provided by a reliable third party. It is true that the government should present a neutral point of view as much as possible, but it is not a necessary recommendation.
2. What was interesting
It was interesting that although it was best to have a trusted third party provide information in a neutral manner, sometimes non-neutral information would be more useful to people. If a variety of people look at the information from their own standpoint, the people who use the information will be able to come in contact with the information from a more diverse ways. I had a lot of negative thoughts about non-neutral information, but this changed my thoughts.
3. Discussion Point
If we look at the interesting points above, we can see the advantages of the above. However, it will be difficult for those with limited access to information and those who lack the ability to make rational judgments on their own. In addition, knowledge acquired from the outside can be more easily used as one's own standard. What kind of efforts do these people need to make to get good information?
