What makes modern societies more advanced than those of the past?/ Changyu Jung

I think what makes modern societies advanced than previous ones are empowerment, tolerance and the spread of knowledge. In the past, a few ‘chosen people’ could have power to change the society and access to the knowledge.

But in nowadays, anyone can access to knowledge and learn anything they want. And they can speak out their voice to change their societies. Everyone in societies have the power to change the societies. And admitting the differences are important now. Back in the old days, different from ‘normal’ was considered as something dangerous. But now people try to admit the differences from people.

In short, I think ‘openness’ is one of the most factor than made modern societies more advanced than previous ones. Openness to knowledge, the power and the other people changed the world. I think our societies will become a more open societies in the future.
