What are some of the major environmental problems facing our society?/김윤(KIM YOON)




I think air pollution is the major problems.
According to Greenpeace, the degree of fine particulate matter in Korea is the most serious in OECD. Last year, South Korea's annual average ultrafine dust concentration stood at 24.8 gg/m3, up 0.8 μg/m3 from a year earlier. Air pollution has a short-term and long-term adverse effect on us. Fine dust or yellow dust causes coughing, runny nose, dry eyes and so on. Particularly ultra fine dust can cause deterioration of lung health.
Although there are many efforts to reduce air pollution degrees, still we are suffering from it. More eco-friendly and sustainable development policies are needed. Since it is also affected by fine dust from neighboring countries, government should take active action to reduce it in consultation with them.
