W5.Sociocultural Evolution(2)/Lim Ji Won

Modern Sociocultural Evolution is widely accepted by critics of classical sociologists' theory of evolution, suggesting a different approach. One of the theories is Neoevolutionism. This theory separates the general evolutionary process from the evolution of a particular society. General evolution was viewed as the accumulation of the solutions presented to the evolution of a particular society.
Sociobiology is a study that analyzes and studies social phenomena from a biological point of view. In other words, it is their idea that the social behaviors of animals, including humans, are formed as a result of the evolutionary process with natural selection as the main factor.

The most interesting was E.O Wilson's theory. He interpreted social evolution as a result of biological evolution. You can say that his idea of combining sociology and biology is revolutionary.

According to his theory, human behavior is mostly acquired by learning, but the basis of its learning ability is the genetic basis of biological evolution.
In other words, on the basis of the formation of a culture, the outcome of the process due to natural selection plays a large role.
