W4 Reading:Millennium Development Goals/ joon hee Lee
Millennium Development Goal(MDG) was the eight international development goals established at the United Nations.
All U.N. member states and countless international organizations have pledged to help each other achieve the following development goals by 2015.
1. Extermination of extreme poverty and hunger.
2. Achieving universal primary education
3. Promoting gender equality
4. Reduced child mortality
5. Promoting maternal health
6. War on Disease
7. Ensuring environmental sustainability
8. Global Partnership Agreement for Development
At the same time, he also emphasized practice in areas such as human capital, infrastructure and human rights to achieve the goal of improving living standards. Recognizing that the MDGs need help from developed countries to achieve their goals, it emphasized their role and made developing countries work with them to solve global human problems. The MDG's purpose clearly resolves the entrenched power generation gap that exists in the world, and is subsequently inherited and sustained under a different name. The plan, which was implemented for good purposes, has achieved notable results, but many have criticized its loopholes. It is true that advanced countries have worked hard to achieve their goals, but most of them have focused only on achieving their goals. (Most focused on debt relief, natural disaster relief, and military aid.) There was also a big difference in the level of achievement in each country, and the problem was that the MDGs tried to calculate the hard-to-measured figures as indicators. It was also pointed out that the analysis of the cause of the goal itself and the presentation of solutions were poor.
It is true that the MDGs have shown weakness in many areas, but I think its purpose itself was good. While many countries are expected to cooperate under the name of the United Nations, not many countries are actively involved in solving these problems. Although for a while, I think the plan has been successful at least half by getting help from developed countries to achieve their goals.
So what should the United Nations do in the future for the voluntary participation of countries? It is true that countries' participation increases during the duration of the agreement, but the reality seems to be that they are naturally forgotten over time. It also emphasized practice in eight diverse areas, but in reality the areas of support were very limited. Why did this result? At least I couldn't find out why I wasn't interested in various goals in this passage. I think it's probably the simplest and fastest way to get results. If I didn't find this, please let me know.
