W3. Social development theory / Juhee Cha

Economic development and human development do not mean the same thing. Strategies and policies aimed at economic growth allow a country to generate large incomes. The Middle East oil producing countries are examples. The surge in oil prices did not benefit the poor, but increased national income. On the contrary, people-centered programs could improve the quality of life such as health, education and living standards without focusing on economic growth. Development is a process in which human beings pursue development. The energy and aspirations of those seeking development become the driving force behind the development. The level of people's education, the intensity of their aspirations and energies, their attitudes and values, technology and information all affect the scope and speed of development. These factors apply equally to the development of individuals, families, communities, countries, or the world.
I saw this and thought that the most important thing for social development was us. One of the powerful means of advancing society is the 'education system,' which I think would be a shortcut to social development if we build well an education system that conveys social common knowledge from one generation to the next. It is up to us to make social progress. I think it is the attitude we should have to convey knowledge and use it to solve social problems.
Then we are one of the members of the current society. Are we currently contributing to social development? If you think so, why?

Comments

  1. I think it contributes to the development of society. First, politically, we can take part in the election. I think voting can help achieve political and social development. Also, economically, I am indirectly paying taxes.

  2. I think we are now contributing to social development. I'm not sure if it's the bad side or the good side. However, I think that social development is something that people who are living in the present gather and make. Because this is a process, not a momentary one.
