Sustainable Development

Development is what every country is striving for. The principles and goals may differ but the countries want to move forward. Though nations became reacher and as developed as never before, there have are side effects that come with this. The exploitation of natural resources and the environment but also the unfair treatment of the working people. Through this time a lot of damage has been caused. Some of the countries already achieved a certain development stage, when any further progress is still welcome but won't significantly improve people's life. Environmental issues started to play a role in people's life quality around the world.

People didn't realize or ignored the price we had to pay to achieve the current development stage. That's when the term of sustainable development appears, to compromise human development while preserving the environment in regard to future generations. History of sustainability starts in the XVIII century. With time more initiatives are being taken to address the problem of degradation of the natural system. We can see the measures taken such as UN development goals that have been named as the Sustainable Development Goals. The sustainable development terms concern every aspect of the development process. Not only directly the environment but also economics, politics, culture - every aspect of our lives have to be thought through in order to make changes that will lead to a more sustainable environment. The changes both on a big scale and those in our daily life are needed.

I have studied the Sustainable Development topic before, so most of the article was a reminder of it. I found interesting all the diagrams presenting current issues related to the development process. They make it really accessible to present the data.

What do you think, are the sustainable measures needed to be introduced? Do you know any of the measures that have been already taken in your region/country?
