Social Development 4: Millennium Development Goals
Development Goals are international goals targeting development issues. Because of the establishment and adaptation of them, solving the development issues can be found easier to plan. The Development Goals give an overview of what are certain issues that many countries and people struggle with. It also raises awareness of the diversity of the social situation around the globe.
Millennium Development Goals are a set of goals stated in 2000 and the plan was to succeed with its realization by 2015. Most of those goals haven't been completed but we can see a huge change in many of them. Besides huge positive influence that stating those goals made, Millenium Development Goals are related also to many controversies that include legitimate reasons behind choosing particular aspects as goals. The goals were also general, hard to measure, didn't and didn't take into account a variety of circumstances in different parts of the world. There are also some more particular problems that haven't been addressed (like environmental sustainability or high, constant population growth in the African continent).
Although I had an opportunity in the past to study the MDGs and SDG, I still find this topic really interesting and relevant. It enhances the importance of analyzing, planning and the role of each country in order to combat development issues.
We can see a big difference between the MDGs and SDGs - what are the conclusions taken from the MDGs that were implemented in the SDGs?
