Millennium Development Goals/Kim Ami
1.
Summary
MDGs were
developed in September 2000 with several commitments set forth in the
Millennium Declaration. By 2015, 191 U.N. member states and more than 22
international organizations have sought to achieve their Millennium Development
Goals, such as eradicating poverty and hunger, achieving universal primary
education, gender equality, reducing child mortality, and developing global
partnerships for maternal health, disease eradication, environment and
development. Measurements for each goal utilize health and economic indicators.
However, the MDG was criticized for its lack of analytical skills and justification for the chosen goal. The MDG processes often did not include the voice of the participants they wanted to support. Critics also say the focus should be placed on data collection in other directions due to a lack of accurate research into the goals they have chosen: women's issues, human rights and the environment.
Although the
MDG's goal was not chosen by country, there have been developments in several
areas, including reducing multilateral debt and strengthening rice production
in the Sahara region.

Interesting point
The interesting
part is the story of Cuba. Despite being a developing country, Cuba has been
able to provide medical personnel to other developing countries such as
Honduras, Guatemala and Nicara as their living conditions improve. Reading this
part reminded me of helping other countries as Korea, which had been helped by
other countries since the Korean War, grew up. Therefore, I learned that
society sometimes gets help from someone, and that there can be situations that
can help someone.

Discuission
191 U.N.
member states and more than 22 international organizations participated in the
MDGs for international development goals. Then do you think advanced countries
should help developing countries? Why?
I think developed countries should help developing countries. There is no logical reason. They are the same people and I think they should help them humanitarianly because their lives are difficult. And in fact, I hope that helping developing countries in developed countries will bring a better and happier world for all to feel humanity.
