How would you define sustainable development?

How I understand sustainable development is that those are practices that their aim is to compromise human development while preserving the environment. It's a belief that we can aim for our development without having to cause damage to the natural environment and if we do, then we can compensate for it to end with a neutral impact. Sustainable development presents a different approach toward the development process in which our goal is still riching development goals but without destroying or influencing or negatively natural resources. Not taking responsibility for those actions can make future generations struggle with it more to be able to function even on a basic level.
