Wikipedia: Reliable sources

Summary)
“Source” is related to the work itself, the author, and the publisher of the dance. And these affect reliability. The reliability of these 'source' varies from situation to situation. Nor is old data always reliable. In some cases, data may not be appropriate in this age and things that were valued highly in the past are later found to be false studies or claims.
News sometimes conveys realistic content and their opinions, some using reasonable reliable information, while others report based on inaccurate data. And bias or opinion-rich data algebra does not always have to use neutral data. However, it is desirable to include the main character of the voice who expressed such opinions.
Sometimes there are paid ads sponsored and disguised as academic papers. In addition, instant breaking news, such as newspaper articles, are at high risk of containing false information. Therefore, Wikipedia must be careful to write on this point. It contains relatively up-to-date information but does not need to deliver data that is as inaccurate as breaking news. And Wikipedia articles are mainly tertiary sources that are written using reliable secondary sources. However, Wikipedia article itself is not a reliable source because it does not use a systematic mechanism for accuracy while utilizing a second source that can be misled.

What's interesting, what's new?)
The new part was to have more diverse opinions when looking at data from sometimes non-neutral perspectives. Because I thought biased data would be difficult to use. In the future, I also thought that when using biased data, it would be better to explain the group that the author belongs to rather than just mentioning the original author.
And what was interesting was that Wikipedia included the latest information as an electronic publication but didn't have to contain real-time information like an article and used secondary sources. I knew Wikipedia could contain unreliable data and deliver relatively up-to-date information. But I thought Wikipedia would put a lot of effort into bringing up-to-date information, and it was amazing that it didn't have the purpose of delivering it in real time like breaking news.

The part I want to discuss with others)
What is the academic purpose of Wikipedia that uses secondary sources and includes up-to-date information but is different from real-time articles?

Comments

  1. About academic purposes, I think Wikipedia can show students the way to the subject before students start to research about it. Students can understand about the subject basically through Wikipedia. And after that, they can research about the subject using books and journals.
