Social Development Theory/김윤(KIM YOON)

Summary

Development is a process of social change, not merely a set of policies and programs instituted for some specific results. The basic mechanism driving social change is increasing awareness leading to better organization. When society senses new and better opportunities for progress it develops new forms of organization to exploit these new openings successfully. Development is human processes because human lead the development, not material elements. Peoples' energy, intensity, attitude, technology, and information all influence the pace of development. There are three stages in society's development. It physical stage, vital stage, and mental stage.

Interesting

I could newly learn about three stages of society's development. Also it is able to present in only one or all of three. It was refreshing to divide social development into three stages. In the sense that there is no inherent limit to the expansion and development of society, I had a time to review again that social development is a double-edged sword. How can we harmonize with the surrounding environment?

Discussion

In terms of data science, what can we do for sustainable and eco-friendly development?

Comments

  1. I think an interesting term that concerns sustainable and eco-friendly development is a "circular economy" (I recommend to check the Wikipedia site regarding this term if someone has not heard about it). Its aim is to eliminate waste and raise the efficiency of resource usage. The theory states that introducing more eco-friendly solutions can actually lead to a higher development because it ensures we use the resources as much as we can. The results can be seen for now on a smaller scale in many companies, but also many countries start to take those measures regarding their whole economy.
