W-Extra. “What should I do about human rights issues in North Korea?” / Kim Seon Woo

Summary

In sovereign states, "human rights" refers to the universal right to human rights, protection and guarantees against the government's unilateral abuse of power and oppression. It means the right of a person to lead a dignified life as a person, the guarantee of individual freedom and equality, independence, and the obligation of the government's exercise of power in the interests of mankind. Also, since it is universal, it applies to all human beings without distinction.

These rights generally include the right to life, the right to an adequate standard of living, protection against unfair treatment, including torture, freedom of thought and the press and expression, freedom of movement, the right to self-determination, the right to education , and politics And the right to participate in and enjoy culture.

Interesting Point.

Human rights in each country have been improved through worldwide efforts. Even if it is a citizen of a poor country, the United Nations is making relentless efforts to ensure that the country enjoys more than a certain level of human rights if it is a member of the United Nations. However, the United Nations is no better than North Korea. North Koreans are still spending every day in pain. I think there are limits to accepting defectors. How can we improve human rights in North Korea?

Discussion.

Is monetary support important or is reunification between the two Koreas important? I want to hear the opinions of my classmates.
